delay afger ejecting gps on usb--happens is 21 but not 20

If I mount a Garmin gps on usb2, then when I eject the gps, there is a 2-minute delay before the computer says it is ok to disconnect the gps. This happens in Linux Mint 21 consistently, but in Mint 20 it never happens.I sync before doing the eject and there is no delay in the sync. 64-bit Cinnamon. 12 G ram.
