[SOLVED] possible to use previous made timeshift after a clean install?
LM21.1 cinn has crashed. Have to make a clean install. Can i update that with a previous made timeshift snapshot? It was made before the total crash.

If it crashed, you should be able to boot to a live session of Linux Mint and restore to a snapshot using Timeshift on the live session. Not sure why you would have to re-install.
However, to answer your question, after you install, presuming your snapshot was for LM21.1 Cinnamon, then you should be able to overwrite the install with the snapshot. However, it will not contain your personal settings (which would be retained if you restore a snapshot using a live session).

Be aware, the UUIDs of the new installation will not match those of the old one. Timeshift will accommodate this to the extent of automatically editing fstab to reflect the change, but not any other files. The solution: before installation, conform the UUIDs of the new system to those of the old one (can get from fstab in snapshot). Have to run fsck first, sudo fsck -fy /dev/sdx#; then sudo tune2fs -U old-UUID-per-fstab /dev/sdx#.
