It is my Linux Mint 9-year anniversary

Post by BenTrabetere »

I seems like yesterday when I moved from WinXP to Mint 17.0. I started with MATE and stuck with it through 18.3, switched to Cinnamon with 19.0, and switched to Xfce when 19.x hit EoL. I was apprehensive at first, but all it takes is booting to my Win7 and Win10 virtual machines to reinforce all the reasons I cannot go back - Windows Update is at the top of the list.

Congratulations! :)

I also moved from Windows XP to Linux. Just a bit earlier than you, and not (yet) to Mint: in 2006, to Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake....

But it was also in July, on a hot summer evening. The beginning of a new adventure, that's still ongoing. Never once regretted it.

Congrats! :D

For me, soon it will be my 4th (2019-2023), although I used Ubuntu for a year in Virtualbox in Windows before that. I think I tried Mandrake in 2003 for a few months.

Used Windows 1999-2019, and Mac OS 2006-2015.

Mint rules! Tried everything else, came back and stuck with it.

Congrats to BenTrabetere and others who made the commitment,

Looking back the Linux transition was not as difficult as it seemed at the time.
I dabbled around with a few other distros for a couple years--then Julia caught my attention--
but Maya was the release that started the weening process.
I was using it more often and heavier at this point and I decided to be Linux only.

So10ish years later I still dabble around and find some interesting projects, but all said,
I'm like so many other dabblers who continue coming back to Mint as a main goto.
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

Yeah Congrats Ben !

Over 12 years for me using Mint as daily driver.
Have never strayed from Mint, but have got through a couple of Arch installs, and not the new easy way either.
And always have a bunch of virtual machines, including more of Mint, you know for "crash test dummy" testing.
