Clipboard not saved after exit from app #11856

Post by Vuzzy »

Mint 21.1 Xfce.

Hello.

Bug description:
What I copied/clipboard is not saved after closing the installed applications from the official repository. For example, the Brave or Signal application from the official repository. All installations were made with the help of official commands from the brave website or other applications with official website, you can test this for yourself.

Steps to reproduce:
When I'm in the application I can copy paste, but when I close the application I can't paste the text.

Expected behavior:
It should remain memorized what I copied.

Do you use CopyQ?
This is why I ask:
https://github.com/hluk/CopyQ/issues/1413

Lots of people have been reporting what you report for many years.

I don't have a solution.

I don't use Copyq, it is interesting that the installation applications from external repositories have this problem, but those from the official repository do not have such problems, I think that the problem is from linux mint, not from the developers of these applications.

It's hard to say, but I think you could be right.
The application that causes me the most trouble is QGIS.
If I copy the data from Firefox, Thunderbird, xed, or Nemo it always works as expected.

I don't quite get this logic. The Brave browser is not in the default Ubuntu (and hence Mint 21.x) repositories. All brave-browser sources are external, anything you have to add an item to your sources list to install is.

Personally I'd be looking at Brave, not Mint.

As I specified above, not only Brave has this problem.

Hi,

Have you tried using the Clipman plugin? It saves everything you cut/copy.

EDIT: Clipman preserves what you cut/copy even if you close the application from which you copied/cut.

Whenever an application terminates, any content it has put into the standard clipboard will be discarded from the clipboard.
This behaviour is by design and has been by design for many years.

Specialized clipboard managers may be used to work around this behaviour.
