You will know that LMDE 6 has been released, once you spot Clem's post titled "LMDE 6 Faye released" in the Releases & Announcements sub-forum.

I had not talked about the beta release, which had been announced in Clem's post "LMDE 6 “Faye” – BETA Release".
I said that there would be a post by Clem titled "LMDE 6 “Faye” released" (no more BETA mentioned).
The final LMDE 6 "Faye" has not been released, yet.
But it will very likely happen during the next few days.
Watch out for new announcements submitted by Clem during the next few days.

There is no date announced. It will be released when it is ready. Right now they are busy bug-fixing.
When the release happens, it will be announced (without the word BETA) in Releases & Announcements.

I'm hoping just a few days, or weeks at the most.
The beta is looking extremely good to me - I'm using it full time on my desktop and laptop.
But we don't want something half-baked coming out - that can damage peoples computers and Mint's reputation. But I haven't looked at the list of reported bugs so I don't really know.

Hi,
are you an admin. can you forward something.
i have tested LMDE 5 and 6 beta. On "5" Bluetooth Connection works directly and without problems.
on "6" doesnst work. you can not connect with a bluetooth headphone. you have to try something. it is complicated. you have to delete something and install a file, etc.

https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=155520

the error message was

"Bluetooth "br-connection-profile-unavailable"

but that didnt work by me.

just a information.

i do not know the difference but the Bluetooth manager, software was better.

As per the LMDE 6 “Faye” – BETA Release blog post, you can report issues here linuxmint /lmde6-beta.

I see there is an existing issue with a bluetooth keyboard. If that issue appears to be the same as yours, you may just want to post your observations in that bug report or you can create your own bug report.

if the bug affects "upstream", Debian systems, no Clem or other Mint dev can solve it.
They can solve bugs that do not appear on Debian systems but introduced with LMDE...

Tested LMDE 6 live on 2 computers now, everything works out of the box, no problems, all hardware e recognised just great.

Really thinking in replacing 21.2 instalation on my secondary computer with LMDE 6.

Same here.
Has anyone else noticed that detection of a 3-finger tap on the trackpad (emulates middle-button-click) is much better on LMDE6?

I have a question about upgrading in the future. E.g. on LMDE 7.
Will there be an upgrade message with LMDE 6? Do you just click on Upgrade and the system automatically upgrades?
Or do you have to reinstall everything?

Hello, sisqonrw.

No-one can tell for sure what will be in the future.
Yet, provided you take the time to read Clem's official upgrade instruction How to upgrade to LMDE 6 (from LMDE 5), you will have got an idea what will very likely be the upgrade path from LMDE 6 to LMDE 7. No warranty given that it really will.
For the moment I would not spend too many thoughts on potential future upgrade paths from LMDE 6 to LMDE 7. After all LMDE 6 (final) has just been officially released.

Regards,
Karl

I would like to know now.
Because I don't want to reinstall everything after 1-2 years.
I would prefer an automatic update.
Just like in the instructions

https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=4571

from before.
What about the upgrades before from 3 to 4 and from 4 to 5.
It was like this too

always been like this?

There are a lot of people who would like to know the future right now, but you are asking fellow users on a user forum about something over which none of us have any control.

That update is not "automatic". It is something you as a user have to initiate. You as a user will have to follow instructions as possibly make changes to make sure the system will upgrade properly.

No, it was worse before now. It has been getting better and easier with each release. It is likely that improvement will continue, but none of know what the future will hold.
