[SOLVED] One of the screens is turned off when logging out

Post by Tedpac »

I have two displays and both are connected to the same GPU (Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti), also, the Nvidia driver is on the latest recommended version (nvidia-driver-535). I currently have two users on my PC (one personal and one for work), so I am constantly switching between the two users. The problem I'm having is that when I log out of one user to log in with the other, one of the screens (either one) shuts down. To get the screen that was turned off to turn back on, what I do is log in to either user and log out again. This works because apparently when logging out there is some instruction that turns off or disconnects the screens and turns them back on and then displays the login window.

This situation recurs on average once or twice a week and I am struck by the randomness with which it occurs. My theory is that the problem is not happening because of some connection problem, because any of the screens can be turned off, and not because of a problem with the Nvidia driver, because this problem has been happening to me for months and since then the Nvidia driver has been updated multiple times. I tried to upgrade Linux Mint from 21.1 to 21.2 to see if that would solve the problem, but it didn't.

I tried googling for a solution but did not find any similar situation. I really appreciate any help, this is my system information:

I don't know what happened, but somehow the problem has not reoccurred so far this year. Maybe it was the upgrade to Linux Mint 21.3, but there is no way to be certain.
