Simulate a Global Menu like MacOS
I have used MacOS a bit and I really liked their global menu. (At least I think that's the name of the top taskbar with the date, battery level icons, etc). And I also liked how it fuses the taskbar with the the top bar from the apps, like the "File", "Edit", "Help" menus. Is there a way to do the same thing with Linux Mint?

Re: Simulate a Global Menu like MacOS
You can look into Gnome3/mate desktop rather than Gnome2/cinnamon desktop. While mate is different from apple, it does put things on top. Many distros use it, so browse some screenshots to get the general idea.
You might also like to look into Cairo panel.

The Unity desktop had a similar thing if I remember correctly.
