Forum search doesn't search for topics only

To avoid creating new threads, I wanted to search for topics only, but it doesn't seem to work.
I do "Display results as: Topics" but the results are the same as a simple search.
Am I the only one experiencing this?

Hello, Fritz.

The preference "Display results as: Topics" only tells how found posts are presented. It does not have any effect on how the search is done or on what is searched.

Could it be that what you are looking for are the 4 choices for "Search Within:"?

• Post subjects and message text
• Message text only
• Topic titles only
• First post of topics only

Search for topics only might be achieved by telling the forum search to search for the given search term(s) in "Topics titles only" and to display the results as Topics".

I have found that the thread title, is mostly meaningless, because newcomers don't create an appropriate title.

the real topic ends up in the post.

Well, searching through hundreds of posts is kind of tiresome. Maybe mods can change inappropriate titles if the threads contain valuable information.

all mods are Volunteers, who have more than enough "work" just policing the forums,
not to spend endless hours modifying titles of threads????

I have been a Mod on another forum since 2006, and titles are rarely modified.
