Hello everybody
I back up my personal folder with Pika.
I have a question about that. Are my programs and the start menu backed up in this way or do I also have to back up special folders?

Re: Back up programs and start menu with Pika data backup
Hello, aut1
Pika data backup is not meant for "system recovery" but as a backup tool for your personal files ("home directory"). Functionality is similar to pre-installed "Backup Tool". It uses a different, seemingly more advanced, backend ("BorgBackup") while "Backup Tool" is a clone of deja-dup and uses "Duplicity". Therefore if you need to restore your system after failed application and kernel installations, the proper tool for this will be "Timeshift".
Pika data backup can presumably restore your personal desktop preferences if you include some hidden folders in your home directory like /.local and .config. That may increase the size of your backups. A solution could be picking only-cinnamon and nemo-related subfolders inside those hidden directories.
