I have been having trouble with black screen after wake from sleep. I figured I'd try back ports for newer drivers. NVIDIA AD104 [GeForce RTX 4070] driver: nvidia v: 525.147.05 pcie: speed: 2.5 GT/s
lanes: 8 bus-ID: 01:00.0 chip-ID: 10de:2786 class-ID: 0300
My question is this: After install "apt install nvidia-driver firmware-misc-nonfree" The system showed new update available and installed Flatpak "nvidia-525-147-05 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.nvidia-525-147-05 1.4 system"
Is this normal? apt install and flatpak.
I am on my second day with nvidia-525-147-05 still working, but normally breaks in about 2-3 days
Thanks

Re: nvidia drivers backports
Hey starfox101 and welcome to Mint forums
You have misunderstood some things. The command you used installed the proprietary nvidia driver from the standard Debian repos not from backports. In fact there is no nvidia driver currently in bookworm backports.
Getting that flatpak nvidia runtime is absolutely normal - assuming that you really want the ability to install applications in that format. It is needed by flatpaks in order to function properly. Flatpak nvidia runtime version must match the version of your system nvidia driver. You're good.
525.x driver offers somewhat basic support for your card. 535.x on main Mint is a lot better. There is no reliable path to upgrade from 525.x on a system based on Debian stable currently.

Re: nvidia drivers backports
Thank-you for the information! Now I'm really Lost in Space! Would you care to elaborate on the "535.x on main Mint is a lot better"
Re: nvidia drivers backports
535.x is a newer driver that supports better the latest RTX 4000 series.
What you perhaps have to understand for now is that on LMDE6 based on Debian stable you don't get official updates for proprietary nvidia drivers unlike on main Mint edition.
