Manage parallel port from terminal

Good afternoon
I am trying to send data through the parallel port to a db25-1205 crontoller with six DM420A stepper motor controllers.
I can't succed in sending data (pulses) through P2 and direction in P3 of the parallel port from the terminal to test it.
Can anyone help me?

You must ne aware that raspberry pi rather than the Mint machine is very much useful to interface to the external world

Thanks you, but i kneed to use a computer with linux, because the arm robot will receive commands from a database through the parallel port.. Thats why i need to start with the terminal linux

Raspberry pi uses Debian Linux and it's very cheap. You can use terminal commands in it

You have to add parallel port to Pi.
