So I Installed i3 on Mint. You Can Git Good At i3 Too!

Post by Neigdoig »

So I got i3 installed on Mint recently, and I've been living in that for a little bit of time now. Granted, i3 doesn't come as a pre-installed option, but I decided to try it anyways. I use Neovim with NVChad, so I might as well use a WM that's lightweight and easy to configure. Boy do I have it good.

I have a YouTube video on CoculesNation (https://youtu.be/-3-4WIkA878) which explains how easy it is to configure i3, and I used a couple extra plugins for i3 (one of them for Sway, which is Wayland's i3). Granted, it's limited, but with those limits comes creativity, and I unleash it here (https://codeberg.org/Neigdoig/i3-Configs). Yes, that links you to my i3 configuration files, and they work well as long as the instructions I give and dependencies are followed.

I would eventually like to edit this post and add a picture of what my desktop looks like right now, but due to my lack of knowledge of posting pictures on these types of forums, this isn't possible right now. I'll probably do that on my Codeberg instance I went ahead and linked so you can see how I rice i3 on Mint.

It looks like this thread is on the wrong section. A mod can move it if it's confirmed so.

I've been using i3-wm for years!
When I first tried it, couldn't figure out how to open apps.
