It took over 30 seconds after closing the menu for the menu to update to charging. Battery Taskbar Menu Does not Update to Charging if Menu is Open
I noticed that my laptop was dying, so when I clicked the battery icon, I noticed I had to charge it. I plugged my charger in and the battery menu still showed that it was on battery and not charging . I started freaking out. I took it out and plugged it back in. I noticed that my backlit keyboard got brighter so I was put at ease that it was just Linux Mint. It took over 30 seconds after closing the menu for the menu to update to charging. Compare that to taking out the charger which takes <5 seconds for the UI to update.
