Want my windows 8.1 Back
Had a working win 8.1, but wanted a linux mint cinnamon beside it, followed a guide i printed, showed that i must make a partition in the drive and give it at least 100 gb, so i made that and restarted, Nothing comes up, no windows or linux, i put the harddrive on another pc, it says i must format it, ofc i wont. I get EaseUS Partition Master and MiniToolPowerDataRecovery and i recovered files from the drive.
But i wondering if theres any other way to get everything back like undo formatting, or installing linux,
i read intall virtual machine and lift over files from bad linux drive to this pc with virtual machine.
Any answer and suggestion would be grateful

You have probably ruined your windows boot by one of those erroneous garbage guide floating around in the web...
Can you show us your current partition situation, or which "guide" you did follow?

Re: Want my windows 8.1 Back
hi and ty for answer, on my printed guide i cant see any webadress and source is gone in the harddrive, yeah i was thinking smth was wrong but still i followed the guide. I just installed VM and mounted a linux mint cinnamon but i cant reach the harddrive, so im guessing i cant do more from this pc.
I cant even start the linux itself from the original pc / harddrive, if i could rebuild mbr for linux maybe i could start it and see if i could find files from the unused 1.8 tb section of windows

Re: Want my windows 8.1 Back
can you still Boot up the Live LinuxMint Media at all ?.
if so, then grab an screen_shot of the Disks program,
and copy that back here, on your reply.
in the meantime, can you download this win-8.1 iso
https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/softwar ... indows8ISO
which you will also need.

im still having the old drive installed on the other pc, cant reach the old at all from the biospromt
Re: Want my windows 8.1 Back
you have wiped the main C: drive on that disk . .
and now you will need the win-8 ISO on an usb stick,
or on an DvD disk, to replace the wiped windows system.

Re: Want my windows 8.1 Back
there is No repair solution, here.
you will have to erase that D: (ext4) partition - from the installer,
and then format it to NTFS and let the windows installer do the rest.

If this is a desktop maybe you could install a physical hardware switch you can flip on or off for whichever drives you want powered on?
Then install a Windows on one drive, Linux on another, and keep your files on other drives.
