I always wanted to configure my thumb wheel to adjust volume, and it so happens there's an 'experimental' feature in Solaar to allows this. Why this isn't a feature readily apparent and documented everywhere, I don't know since I've seen postings of others wanting to do this same thing since as far back as 2018.
