]Solved] Probable Xsession crashes

Post by jbrolin »

Dear, I have a very similar problem, also a fresh install of LMDE6. Because it is newly installed, I report what I see:
Open Libre office writer. As soon a I change the window size, I'm thrown out to the login screen
Similarily, sometimes when I switch focus from a virtualbox VM (Both windows and Linux), I'm thrown out to the login screen.
In an attempt to narrow down, I installed xfce4 and I see the same behavior, so I figure it is not cinnamon

Some system information;

uname -a

Re: Probable Xsession crashes

Post by Pjotr »

Your Nvidia graphics is running on the Nouveau driver, not on the proprietary Nvidia driver, which is usually much better. This might be the cause of the problem.

Unfortunately I don't know how to install the Nvidia driver in LMDE, though (in normal Linux Mint it's very easy to do).

Thank you Pjotr!

I installed the NVidia drivers using software manager (NVidia-driver, meta package)

Now I can resize Libre office writer without problem.
I'll wait a day before I mark this topic as solved.

[2 days later] Now my machine appears very stable. :D
