very high temp in my mint

Post by PhotonVish »

i have double booted in my laptop msi gf63 . when it is in battery mode, its temp is less than 40 degree celcious , but as soon as i plugged it in , it hovers between 60 to 70 degrees for same work. while in windows(which is heavy os) either in dc or ac , its always less than 50 degrees. please suuggest me. its too annoying.

i have installed tlp and had started it automatically and manually both in ac mode but still no sight for any good results :(

cpu : i5 12500h
gpu : integrated + intel arc a370m.
actually previously i had upgraded linux kernel still same heat. i again installed with lower linux kernel still same issue.

edit 2: i got the solution, i just manually started the tlp in battery mode and it worked and now my temp while even plugged in is usually around 50 degree celcious :D

Code: Select all

 sudo tlp bat
EDIT: pasting info of laptop in much detail as suggested by one person

There's actually not much useful system info there, copy/paste the text output of

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxpmrz
run in the terminal and wrap it in <code> tags.

I'd go into the update manager, install the newest kernel, and reboot. That hardware is pretty new.

After installing the newest kernel, update your system.
You do need the updated backported Mesa packages!
Intel Arc support on Linux is a work in progress to put it mildly...

Install 6.5.x for now. 6.2 is "End-of-Life".
In your case more stable is what supports your hardware adequately.
