Have I mess up (disabled) displayport some how?

Post by Hopeles »

Hi.
I have used Linux Mint at least from 18.1 distro and from the start I have had problems getting VNC to work with my TV (as monitor) while is off. Last summer i bought a dummy-display (simulates display), but it only work on the same display-port as my TV.

I have old eMedic PC that have 2 DP port and TV is connected to DP-2 with DP to HDMI adapter via my stereo (HKV). Some how DP-1 seems to not get connected. It works while in bios screen so I think that port is OK. If I remember right, I followed some guide to remove some display for to have VNC work. It works now if I have TV and stereo ON, but VNC dont refresh VNC display while they are OFF (mouse moves, but buttons dont seem to work). Display dummy works also well when it is connected to same display port that I normally use for TV.

Is there some place to check that I haven't disabled DP-1 port years ago?

Reason: Moved from Desktop:Cinnamon to Graphics Cards & Monitors because the question is about a GPU port.

Please explain what "Some how DP-1 seems to not get connected." means because the data you posted is showing a DP port. (The other one is presumably showing as HDMI because of the connector cable you used.)

Unless you disabled it using a kernel parameter or somehow disabled it in the BIOS/UEFI, I am not aware of a way to disable the port. (However, I also don't use VNC and this seems to be more of a VNC question.)

What is the output of

Code: Select all

cat /proc/cmdline
