F.E.A.R. freezes when loading a level

Hello.

On Mint 21.1 Xfce, playing GOG version of F.E.A.R., under wine-6.0.3 (Ubuntu 6.0.3~repack-1), when trying to load Interval 8 Point of Entry, sometimes, the game gives me a 'Disconnected from server' error and exits to the main menu. Other times there is a Windows error and the game crashes. While other times still the game just freezes at the load screen. It's always at the same place, after finishing Urban Decay. There are no associated crash report for this.

Any ideas?

EDIT: The Windows error I mentioned is actually a Wine error. It comes with a backtrace file.

EDIT 2: I looked this up and many people seem to have the same problem but none of the solutions work for me. For example, I tried reducing the resolution, but it didn't work.

"Disconnected from server" bug is present on Windows too. You have to apply the 4G patch (through Wine!) on game's executable.
[or install game via Lutris with a Glorious-Eggroll Wine build and run it with the variable WINE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1]

I did try the 4Gb patch but got a 'Couldn't Open Executable' error.

I'll try Lutris and see what happens.

What about PlayOnLinux? Maybe a different version of Wine will help?

Lutris didn't work. I abandoned the game and started playing one of its sequels.
