Assigning Extra Keys

Post by clriis »

I've recently installed LM Cinnamon 21.3 on my Thinkpad X13 Yoga (gen. 1) with Nordic Keyboard and I'm very happy with my choice so far.

Most of the special keys on my keyboard have been assigned correctly (like volume, display and WiFi). I got three spare keys, Fn+F9, Fn+F10, Fn+11, that I would like to make use of, but I fail to grasp how.

When I select Keyboard>Shortcuts and try to bind them to a command/app, any of the three keys are "dead" when I press them, but other keys are registered. This happens weather with Fn key combination or not.

My keyboard layout is Danish (Windows)

What should I do?

Run xev, click on it (so it has focus) and press the keys (combi's). See if they register anything..

@Koentje

I get response for F9, F10 and F11. However, with Fn key combination or FnLock there is no response.

Then it's not possible to make shortcuts with these key combi's.

But at some point somebody must have decided: We will make it possible to use Fn+F12 but not Fn+F11.
Or?
