[SOLVED] Unicode not properly displayed in Firefox

Post by undy »

Hallo,
in an almost fresh installation of Mint 21.3 (Cinnamon), I do not visualize in Firefox the unicode characters appearing in this page:
https://github.com/catppuccin/tmux

What I visualize is the following:

Why? What should I do in order to fix this? Thanks!

I don't see them either.
Those are icon-like characters that require either special fonts that include those characters, or special app support to display properly.
I can see them in Geany, Xed, gnome-terminal, Kitty, etc.

Hallo,
I was able to fix the problem by installing the JetBrainsMono Nerd Font and then selecting it in "Settings > General > Fonts > Advanced > Monospace".

Those are private use area codepoints. Unicode defines U+E000..U+F8FF, U+F0000..U+FFFFF and U+100000..U+10FFFF as private use area. The tmux project page seems NOT specifying a recommended/reference font for their suggested config. This is bad practice.
