Reason: Moved from Installation & Boot to Sound because the problem is with sound and not with installing or booting Linux Mint.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Please type this in a terminal:
cinnamon-settings sound
Does the Sound application run and can you change the volume on the Output tab?
If Sound does not run please post the output given in the terminal.

Do you have a Timeshift snapshot of when your system was working before you began making changes?

Audio:
Device-1: Intel 200 Series PCH HD Audio vendor: ASUSTeK
driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus-ID: 00:1f.3 chip-ID: 8086:a2f0
class-ID: 0403
Device-2: NVIDIA vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel pcie:
speed: 8 GT/s lanes: 8 bus-ID: 01:00.1 chip-ID: 10de:228e class-ID: 0403
Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.15.0-76-generic running: yes
Sound Server-2: PulseAudio v: 15.99.1 running: no
Sound Server-3: PipeWire v: 0.3.48 running: yes

PulseAudio should start automatically when you boot the computer. You should not have to start it manually. Can you think of what you might have installed or did that stopped it?

No, installing the Nvidia driver does not stop PulseAudio.

I do not have any guesses as to what may have happened. It is usually best to take a snapshot prior to installing other software in case you run into issues and need to roll back.

Good to hear. Take a Timeshift snapshot now of your working system. If you run into any future issues, you can then always get back to this state.
