[SOLVED] No wifi or ethernet on Lenovo Thinkcentre m75q

Post by kyoung »

Hi all, I just loaded this computer with a fresh install, and I've been fighting network issues both with the wifi and the ethernet. First time I've ever had both fail on my and I'm truly stumped. I am able to connect via my iphone tether hotspot, and even connecting to the hotspot wireless is fine.

Things I've tried are :
Disabling pci power management in bios
Disable secure boot in bios
Different Ethernet cables i have confirmed work on other pc's
Setting a static ip for ethernet and wifi
Reinstalling the entire OS fresh while connected to iphone hotspot in case there were corrupt driver packages from a bad connection in the first attempt
Buying a usb wifi adapter from the list of "plug and play" wireless adapters - https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WiFi/bl ... drivers.md

Because of all these failed attempts im beginning to wonder if somehow my router is the problem?

Here's the output from inxi -Fxxxrz

While connected, install the 6.5 kernel in Update Manager, View, Linux Kernels & reboot.

Hi sleeper,

Gave this a shot and upgraded to 6.5.0-26, still no luck. I also cleared the static ip and reset the network just to be safe but still nothing

Thanks for taking the time to help :) I guess I also should have mentioned this in the original post, the networks on the wifi card are actually visible and I am able to connect, however the speed is so slow i can't really load anything at all.

Far as I can tell, all looks good, so I'm stumped as well. Ethernet shows as up, I assume you tried restarting the router? For wifi, you can try shut down & unplug the machine, remove battery (if possible), hold the power button down for 40 seconds, & try wifi again.

rebooted it yesterday but a lot has happened since then, so I gave it another try and it looks like it may have solved it this time? it seems like the kernal update along with network manager + router restart finally brought it to life!

just to be safe i've got a usb ethernet adapter on order... hoping it doesnt decide to drop again. thanks the help sleeper!
