Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Hello people, I shifted from windows to linux on a dell vostro 3510 and expected better experience, but got worse because of this internet problem that I can't fix for some reason :/
I have slow Internet, it drops in random moments and stays below 5Mbps
Started using ubuntu and had the same problem and for some reason I changed to mint, and still I have the same problem...
Did some changes that I saw online but nothing helped
Can anyone suggest something that will maybe help
Thank you in advance...

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
I did everything from there and its still the same...
However I'm using an external monitor connected with HDMI, can that somehow interfear?
Because I've realised that the problem is more frequent when I'm using the second monitor

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Nevermind the monitor...it is still happening in random moments...
To be specific, the problem is with the download speed, the upload speed is okay

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
You can try a higher kernel. Install the 6.5 kernel in Update Manager, View, Linux Kernels & reboot.
Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
I installed 6.5.0-26 and everything was okay...for 10 minutes
Now its the same thing...
The kernel wasn't the problem

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Any better if you disable IPv6?: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... html#ID2.2
Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
If not, you could also try #2.4 or 1.3 here: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... ernet.html
Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Disabling IPv6 maybe helped a little bit but its still more or less the same
Neither 2.4 or 1.3 helped

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Nevermind, the disabling of IPv6 didnt help at all, its still the same download speed, max 5mbps

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
There was a specific wifi chipset that didn't play well with Linux and 5GHz. I can't remember which one though.
Some folks found joy with a different driver, others had to lock it to 2.4GH.
EDIT: I think it was the Realtek RTL8822BE WiFi Chipset

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
I tryed with different drivers and tryed every step of the links the guy send me above and I still dont know what could be the problem because sometimes i get 50+mbps(normal) and sometimes(most of the time) I get below 5mbps, and I dont know the reason for the problem...

Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
I dunno, maybe try a less crowded router channel?
Re: Linux Mint 21.3 very slow Internet problem
Will it change something if I put Linux Mint Debian Edition instead of 21.3?
