Multiple instances of cinnamon-screensaver-pam-helper

I'm seeing multiple instances of cinnamon-screensaver-pam-helper in the system monitor. They are all 'sleeping' and it doesn't seem to be causing any issues with the system yet but it is an annoyance. At the time of this post, there are 15 of them. I did not find this issue in prior posts.

The creation of the processes occur once an hour while the screensaver is active. My system is set to sleep after an hour so I suspect the process starts are tied to that.

Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this?
